All is Quiet

I know, it's hard to believe but all has been relatively quiet in our house the last couple of weeks. The kids really have not had a lot going on and we havent gone anywhere. We finally had our new stove and fridge delivered last weekend. I am very happy with it. Several weeks ago I was able to attend a 3-D ultrasound with my best friend. It was the most exciting thing for me. I didnt have an ultrasound like that for either of my kids. She is expecting a little girl on June 30th and we are thrilled to death for them. On the 8th the kids and I went to Rocky Mount to visit my aunt, uncle, cousin and his wife. We had a wonderful visit. The weather was great and the kids enjoyed playing ball in the yard with my cousin and his wife while I got to talk with my aunt and uncle. Not to mention, the barbeque was AWESOME. I brought back 4 pints!!!
Wink and I visited a new school this past Thursday for the kids. Alexis is currently in a PK-4 year old class and she will not be 5 until October. This puts her past the deadline of Sept 30th for kindergarten in public school. So, we either hold her back and both kids enter K next year, or we find a kindergarten that takes October babies. And so, we found Gloria Dei School. It is a division of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in the Fox Hill section of Hampton. Wink and I were both impressed with the school the minute we got there. The kids will be able to experience so much from the school and their curriculum. Zack will have a Chef Combo nutrition class alternating with a computer class each week. Alexis will have a computer class weekly. Both kids will have PE, science, social studies, and music throughout the week. Alexis' will be expanding on her letters using the same books that I used when I used to work at Holloman's. I was pleased with that. Glad to see that they would have a formal "textbook" versus random scanned sheets from whatever sources available. And the best thing, at least from the kids perspective, they get to ride a YELLOW BUS to school. The bus will come to Poquoson and pick the kids up in the morning, then return them to Grandma's house after school. My first impression is that Alexis will do fine. She is excited about going to a new school and shouldn't have any problems meeting new friends. Zack seems a little apprehensive about the whole thing. I worry about him the most, but I think he will be ok.
