A Little White Lie

I told this story at lunch today with my family and they thought it was the funniest thing so I thought I would share it with everyone. A few weeks ago I bought a Disney Princess vanity from a friend of mine for Alexis for Christmas. The box is the Princess pink and very large. I had left it in the back of the truck and just pulled the cover over the back so it was out of sight. Well that night I went to pick the kids up and as Alexis was getting into the truck she spotted the pink box. Apparently it had slid up just enough to be able to see the color of the box. (Now mind you there is about a 6 inch gap between the back of the seat and where the shade starts) So I rushed them into their seats and dismissed any questions about the box. When we got home and the kids were inside, Alexis asked about her toy. I played dumb!! "What toy?" I asked. She says, "The Princess toy in the back of your truck." And then the lie starts!! I told her thats not for you Alexis. She cries for a second and says who is it for. I thought to myself, what now!! I told her it was for someone I worked with that had a little girl. I said the girls' mommy and daddy didnt have a lot of money and she wasnt going to have any presents at Christmas. Alexis listened closely the whole time, and when I was done she asks, "Whats her name?" What, you have to be kidding me!!! Now what!! Uhh, her name is Becky. It was the first name that came to my mind. So, for about a week after that night Alexis asked if I had given the toy to Becky. I kept dismissing her and telling her I was going to do it the next day or the next week. I have since taken the pink box out of the back of the truck and have it safely tucked away in the house:)
